Field And Streams ranked the Terrapin Reel the "Best All Around Fly Reel" in their 2021 gear guide and it has remained there ever since.

The Terrapin is a lightweight, large arbor reel with a 100% sealed drag system with all of the stopping power you could ask for. All the reels in the Terrapin series are machined from 6061 T-6 bar stock aluminum and are hard anodized for maximum durability. The drag system of the Terrapin is made up of stacked Carbontex/Stainless steel discs with a Stainless Steel Clutch bearing for engagement resulting in zero startup enertia and a buttery smoothfeel. All drag components are located inside of a sealed hub.
All the reels in the Terrapin series are machined from 6061 T-6 bar stock aluminum and are type II double anodized for maximum durability. The drag surface of the Terrapin is made up of stacked Rulon discs, a material rather new to the fly reel industry that has unbelievable tolerances. Rulon is rated for CONSTANT operating temperature ranging from –400*F to 550*F and has zero water absorption!
